Turning left out of Cockleshell has you walking along Regent Street into Teignmouth accessing a multitude of independent retailers & main brand shops, a variety of restaurants and of course plenty of welcoming public houses. 40 steps in the other direction takes you across the road and up the slipway to the sea wall and down onto the wonderful red sands of Teignmouth beach.
Upon reaching the beach, heading north provides access to over 2.5km of dog friendly beach all year round. You have the option of strolling along the level sea wall alongside the train line, noted as one of the prettiest rail routes in the whole of the UK or walking the full length, tides permitting, along the sand. Don’t forget to grab a cuppa from either TeignBean at the start of your walk or The Salty Dog at Holcombe!
Heading South you can follow the beach, under the Pier and a further 2.5km of beach stretches around Teignmouth into the Estuary and along onto the vibrant “back beach” overlooking Shaldon. (This is no dogs from 1st May-30 September).
Teignmouth offers a variety of attractions and activities for all ages. You can explore the town's beautiful beaches, enjoy the Grand Pier with its amusements and views, or visit the Teignmouth Arts Quarter with its shops, galleries, and restaurants. Additionally, there are opportunities for watersports like sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding, as well as walking trails and cycling paths.
